Diaspora Kitchen is about creating a taste of place, one dish at a time. To do so, we use the best produce from small farms in the New York area, using them at their time of ripeness, or preserving them for use later in the year.
Whether gathering to talk over coffee or in the kitchen preparing another round of jam, our biggest hope is to encourage and invite others to participate in the creation & consumption -- the co-production -- of delicious things.
Diaspora Kitchen + Provisions believes in the taste of place. Searching out and finding small farmers and backyard growers throughout the Northeast, we find produce and products that tell the story of the Northeast, using methods of preparation that allow the product to speak for itself. We do so for the radical notion that place and flavor matter, and the skills utilized to preserve and launch those products are worth encouraging, promoting, and protecting.
Diaspora is everywhere. We are very situated within a specific community and time, and we feel a responsibility in supporting, cultivating, and facilitating a business that brings eaters, growers, and everyone in between together.
